About Us

Restoring the heritage of healing for the world.

Edith is being built around a belief: India can contribute more to the future of medicine and healthcare. This is the thinking behind the company—what we are building, why we begin in India, where we hope to go and the principles that will guide the way.

01 The Idea

What are we building?

Our ambition is to build an innovative pharmaceutical company from India—one that works towards developing better medicines and, over time, contributes to the ideas, science and technologies that move healthcare forward.

A pharmaceutical company can be measured by the medicines it brings to people. We believe its longer-term contribution can also be measured by the problems it chooses to address, the quality of its thinking and the capabilities it builds over time.

We are at the beginning of that work. Our intention is to build carefully, keep learning and pursue opportunities where science and healthcare needs point towards meaningful progress.

IIThe opportunity we see

India has an established role in pharmaceutical manufacturing and supply. We believe there is room for India to contribute even more across the wider journey of medicine—from ideas and research to development, delivery and the technologies that support better healthcare.

That is the opportunity that informs Edith's ambition. It is not a claim that this work is already complete, or that one company can accomplish it alone. It is a direction we believe is worth working towards.

IIIWhat this means for Edith

  1. Build a pharmaceutical company with innovation as a long-term objective.
  2. Treat quality and scientific discipline as essential responsibilities.
  3. Remain open to useful advances in research, formulation, drug delivery and technology as capabilities develop.
  4. Build from India with the ambition to compete and contribute internationally over time.

We cannot define Edith by a long list of achievements yet. We can define the ambition that will guide the work ahead.

02 Why India

Why India?

For Edith, India is more than the place where the company begins. It is part of the reason we believe this work matters.

IA long relationship with healing

India has a rich and diverse history of medical thought and healing traditions. Across centuries, knowledge about health, illness and care has developed through different systems, communities and scientific practices. That history is not the whole story of modern medicine—but it is an important part of India's relationship with healthcare.

IIA significant pharmaceutical foundation

Modern India has become an important participant in the global pharmaceutical landscape, with capabilities in medicine production, scientific talent and healthcare delivery. These strengths create a foundation on which further contributions can be built.

IIIThe next chapter

We believe India's contribution to medicine can extend further. Alongside manufacturing and access, there is an opportunity to deepen the country's role in discovering, developing and improving medicines, advancing research, applying technology and shaping new approaches to healthcare.

This is not a dismissal of the innovation already taking place in India. It is a belief that the country's contribution can grow further—and that building towards that future is worthwhile.

IVWhere Edith fits

Edith intends to contribute to this broader possibility by building an innovative pharmaceutical company from India, with a long-term ambition that reaches beyond national borders. We are at the beginning. The contribution we eventually make will depend on the quality of the work, capabilities and decisions we build over time.

India's history is part of the foundation. Its future is still being shaped.

03 Our Ambition

An Indian beginning. A global ambition.

We want to build a great Indian pharmaceutical company—one that develops innovative medicines, earns the ability to compete globally and, over time, contributes meaningfully to other fields of healthcare.

IBuild with substance

Ambition matters only when it is matched by the work required to pursue it. For Edith, that means building the foundations of a pharmaceutical business responsibly, learning from evidence and experience, and developing the capabilities needed to pursue more demanding goals over time.

IIInnovation as a direction

We do not see innovation as a single technology or a single breakthrough. Over time, it may involve new medicines, improved formulations, drug delivery, research, biotechnology, clinical development, AI and other technologies that can advance healthcare.

  • New medicines
  • Improved formulations
  • Drug delivery
  • Research
  • Biotechnology
  • Clinical development
  • AI & technology

These are potential directions for the future, not claims about current Edith programmes.

IIIBeyond borders

Our ambition begins in India, but it is not limited to India. We want Edith to develop the standards, knowledge and capabilities required to contribute internationally when our work is ready to do so.

The ambition is long-term. The responsibility begins with how we build today.

04 Our Approach

The principles behind the ambition.

A long-term ambition needs more than a destination. It needs principles that guide decisions along the way. These are the standards Edith intends to work towards as the company develops.

  1. Science over convention

We believe assumptions should be examined, evidence should matter and better questions should remain welcome. Progress in medicine depends on the willingness to learn and improve.

  2. Quality is foundational

Quality cannot be added at the end or treated as a marketing message. In pharmaceuticals, it must be central to decisions, processes and responsibilities.

  3. Think beyond the next product

We want to build enduring capability, not simply a succession of short-term opportunities. That requires patience, discipline and a willingness to invest effort in foundations.

  4. Technology with purpose

Research, data, AI and other technologies matter when they help address meaningful problems. We intend to remain open to tools and approaches that can contribute to better medicines and healthcare as our capabilities evolve.

  5. Build from India. Think globally.

We see India as a meaningful place from which to build, and the world as the horizon for our long-term contribution. Global ambition must be matched by the quality, evidence and standards of the work.

These are not claims of achievements already completed. They are principles against which we intend to judge the decisions ahead.
